We have supported communities to construct over 90 boreholes and more than 15 valley dams in the two districts we are working (Mityana and Mubende). These projects have benefited over 40,000 vulnerable men, women and children.
In recent years, many districts of Uganda, including the areas we are working in, have experienced significant levels of droughts and water shortage. As a result, many communities have resorted to collecting drinking and general purpose water from ponds which they share with animals. These unhygienic ponds are usually very far from their homes and women and girls have to walk long distances which expose them to risks of molestation and abuse.
