Tackling Poverty and Promoting Livelihoods in Uganda through increasing access to water and sanitation

Increasing Safe Water Access to Rural Communities

Over 10,000 people will benefit from one of our projects as a result of a reduction in poverty and water-related ill-health which are widespread among the communities.

Community Training

Our projects train local artisans and community members in the fabrication of the required materials and the construction and maintenance of the boreholes and WUC members undergo a Training of Trainers (TOT) in sanitation, hygiene, and environmental health.

Known as BIVA, is a community-based organisation (CBO) working in Mityana Town and Busimbi sub-county, Uganda. It was formed in 2000 by a group of community members concerned about the increasing levels of poverty in the area due to rapid population growth, the impact of HIV/AIDS, and loss of livelihoods by community members due to their eviction from forest reserves.
